5th Edition of The Barhemian’s Stop Drop & Roll Show Live!

Featuring Equipto w/ the Fully Baked Tour Crew

The Barhemian is proud to bring legend status San Fransisco rapper Equipto to the Stop Drop & Roll Show Live. As the 5th installment of the SD&RS Live, the scene and texture of the background and city vibes were similar to the first 4 shows, adding to the raw authentic nature of the event. The Conversation starts off as an Intimate conversation with Equipto about being born and raised in SF in 1974, to the current state of living and community in the City. While Equipto recognizes he’s blessed to have grown up in his era of San Francisco, he shares his concerns and views of today. Equipto also explains how he was accepted as a rapper early on from the age 15 when he’d write raps at night on paper, to bring and share at school.
The Barhemain asked about his history in graffiti art, and the origin of his rap name. Equipto talks about sneaking outta the house as a young kid to ride the buss around SF with tagging crews and legends in the graffiti game. They also spoke about the diverse community of longtime friends/family that makes up Board Stiff, and how in the early 1990s they would push cassette tapes. EQ talks about his first rap group Three Shades of Rhythm, and how they pulled inspiration from other like-minded rap groups like Tribe Called Quest in their business dealings, and focused on being underground.
The Barhemian took time to remind the audience about the big recognizable names in the rap game like Mac Dre that Equipto has worked with, from back in the day to now. EQ talks about his time with B-Legit and how cool he is, Mike Marshall and how his KIM 3 is one of his favorite, and how he worked with Burner on his first album. While EQ has lived in tough times and in rough situations, he’s grown to be more emotional and internal with his purpose. When asked about a turning point in his life, EQ talked about his hunger strike and a string of murders (including Mario Woods) that was the ’tipping point’ that move EQ to organize and take action. Between the community, and overall solidarity with the world and culture, EQ is feeling blessed as an OG in the game. After much reminiscing and really cool stories, The Barhemian asked about the Fully Baked Tour, and EQ introduces the crew. When EQ was asked about using the platform to speak on, and make noise about major issues in the world, he shared truths and facts about history that moves him to stand with the people. When asked about EQs future, he spoke about his music, but focused mainly on his new daughter, and being right where he’s supposed to be.
