Dox Black aka Paradox aka DoxollaTheRockRolla from San Jose (all sides) gets his inspiration from the music, creating art thru sound. Was a graffiti artist at a young age, then transitioned to music. Grew up being unique and finds ‘being yourself’ helps create original music and stands out. The unspoken element of hip-hop is beatboxing. Dox is MC and Producer for over 20-years (started in HS), and gets inspired naturally in his creative process with making music. 2023 marked 10-years of dropping an album on New Years Eve every year. Collaborations happen naturally for Dox, especially with ‘like-minded’ sounds and folks, but has grown into gravitating towards those who are serious about the music. Dox explains how each project is different and has its own vibe. He prefers to create timeless music, and finding the music without being forced or manufactured, and believes in things coming naturally without following trends without jeopardizing his integrity….follow your heart. Put some paint where it ain’t. The conversation includes some talk about racial tensions in the music scene, and Dox paints a picture from an artist point of view. Regarding performing live, Dox loves the crowd’s reactions. It drives him. He takes a few moments to give other artists advice, in a very meaningful way. Your network is your net worth. Put yourself out there. These things help you grow as an artist. Butch Swim stopped by, a scratch battle DJ who has worked with many local hip-hop and rap professionals. He suggests sticking to the plan will help your success. Dox plays The Barhemian’s 22 Questions with some very fun answers. The crowd sings happy birthday to Hip Hop in a very fun way! The live interview concludes with Dox answering a few questions from the audience.
